Seeking adventurers to join a campaign beginning at level 1 in the Forgotten Realms setting. It will begin with a module called Tomb of Annihilation, which should take the party from level one to level 11 or more. At that point we can begin a new campaign with your level 11 characters if we want. But that will be a long time from now. Maybe a year. The game might be slow at first as I figure things out. And I intend for it to be a survival challenge. Variant encumbrance will be tracked. Exhaustion level and daily weather will be tracked. You will be toiling in the jungles of Chult in the year of 1490 DR.  The game will be "theater of the mind" style, relying on spoken descriptions rather than visuals. I may end up using a shared website to show battle layouts. But I haven't decided yet. Character creation rules are PHB+1.

Preferably on a weekly basis, but as long as we have consistent, sizable sessions, bi-weekly is fine. I have ample experience with the D&D 5e system (2014, not so much 2024) and enjoy all aspects of the game. I am new to roleplaying, but eager to grow in that area. I like to think I have a diverse playstyle, capable of filling gaps in parties in needed, but I tend to lean toward martial classes and the "jerk with a heart of gold" archetype. While I prefer D&D 5e (mostly due to familiarity), I am flexible in terms of what systems. I've also played Deathwatch, Mutants and Masterminds, Pathfinder 2e, Rogue Trader, Shadowrun. Additionally, I'm willing to try new systems or the numerous D&D 5e homebrews such as Final Fantasy XIV, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, Star Wars, etc. In the lengthy gaps between campaigns, I've spent an inordinate amount of time homebrewing and creating characters. I tend to like sprinkling a little (or sometimes a lot) of homebrew in my characters, as I feel it helps them feel more personal. This is not a requirement for me to enjoy the game, but such allowances (with DM approval, of course) are greatly appreciated. My only limitations in terms of player conduct and game content are the usual things: No bigotry, communicate when you have problems, keep in-game conflict in-game, and be tasteful when describing horrible or otherwise NSFW things. I enjoy roleplay very much, but I tend to play characters that are closer to extensions of myself. I also enjoy playing powerful characters and having a positive effect on the world around me. Some have said that I like to play "mary sues" or "power fantasies"; i find these terms somewhat derogatory, and I think that characters with a static arc can be just as interesting as positive or negative arcs. For instance: Paddington Bear does not have a character arc. He has zero moments of self doubt, even though he has flaws. However, most people consider the paddington movies good: this is because it's about how paddington inspires and uplifts those around him. Combined with the realization that flaws in one circumstance can be boons in another (and vice versa), i think a static arc can fit well into a character-focused campaign. I am fine with sharing the spotlight and working with the rest of the party, though I sometimes struggle with that due to autism and ADHD impacting my perception of social situations. Lately I've been trying to actively encourage myself to help the party using 5e bard-like mechanics focused on helping other players with skill checks. I can't promise that I'm a perfect player, but I can promise that I'm always trying my best to be fair and kind to others while also getting my own needs met. If you don't agree with my stance on static arcs, we probably aren't a good fit for each other. Also, as a result of my characters being extensions of myself, my politics often bleed through in my actions in the game world. I'm a raging socialist, and so my actions oriented around making the game world a better place will follow that philosophy.

Im looking for a daytime group to join as a player. I have a little experience with 5e and mostly play on roll20 but willing to play on discord or any other website. Unfortunately I cant play on weekends(I have 2 young kids) and I work night shift so evening or late night sessions can be hard to manage.

I'm a player that loves seamlessly inhabiting a fantasy world. Making setting-specific characters is always a fun challenge, and in my opinion, the best way to really ground a character. I like doing voices for my characters and I'd be lieing if I didn't say that sometimes I make a characters' personality a certain way to fit the specific voice I can pull off. Dialogue and interacting with other players is probably one of my favorite things in DnD. Most of the times my characters are serious, but that doesn't mean that funny things can't happen. I want to have a good time at a table with friends. Even though I gravitate towards role-playing I don't dislike combat. I try to make characters in line with the rest of the party so as to keep things fun for everyone, and I always make sure to keep my turns fast.
