Daggerheart (2025)

Ülevaade

Daggerheart is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game published by Darrington Press, an imprint of Critical Role Productions. The game was released in 2025. Description Daggerheart is a story-docused role-playing game system, where the rules direct players to think narratively and not just mechanically. The game uses a system called Duality Dice, where players roll two twelve-sided dice. One for Hope and one for Fear. In addition to determining whether the character achieves success or fails at the action they are trying to perform, it also generates a helpful Hope resource for the player, or a challenging Fear resource for the game master (GM). Lead designer Spenser Starke explained that there is "also no initiative in Daggerheart". It functions very much like a

or a
Powered By The Apocalypse
game, where the GM is making moves on certain dice rolls and we're passing play back and forth as a conversation. It all flows together in a way that supports the storytelling-first direction that Critical Role has really embraced over the last decade". The game features 279 supplemental cards to track player abilities and characteristics. Darrington Press also launched several digital resources, including an online custom card creator. Testmäng Testmäng
Õudus Õudus
PLEASE NOTE: This is a playtest game, I will be testing out a few different and new systems to myself in hopes of adapting them into my games in the future. This is also a playtest for the Daggerheart Drakkenheim ruleset as well so player feedback is welcomed and encouraged throughout. Wednesday 9pm GMT The 11th day of the 11th month, 1111. To some, it was a day of prophecy; to most, it was just another Tuesday in the jewel of Westemär. Then the sky split open. A star of pulsing violet fire screamed through the heavens and struck the heart of Drakkenheim, vaporizing the Royal Ward in a heartbeat. You aren't heroes, not yet. You are survivors, caught in the shadow of a dying city. As a strange, prismatic fog begins to roll through the streets and the very stones start to weep purple ichor, your only objective is simple: Get out before the Haze claims you. The air is thick with the scent of ozone and rotting flowers. Around you, the impossible is happening. People you knew are warping before your eyes, limbs lengthening, voices dissolving into wet gurgles, and sanity fraying under the glow of the "Octarine" light. This is a world of Eldritch Horror and High Stakes Survival, where every street corner offers a choice between a desperate rescue and a necessary betrayal. In this high-octane Daggerheart adventure set as a Prequel to Dungeons of Drakkenheim, you will navigate a cityscape undergoing a violent, magical metamorphosis, the day the eldritch meteor struck the city. You must balance your dwindling Hope against the encroaching Fear as you witness the birth of a nightmare that will haunt the continent for decades to come. Will you lead survivors to safety, abandoned those that are already lost, or will you become just another shadow etched into the ruins of the lost capital? The sky has fallen, the King is gone, and the Haze is hungry. Run.

New to Daggerheart? Jump into the action with an adventure! Join and learn to play Daggerheart, a system from the team at Critical Role. This adventure will teach you the basics of Daggerheart! A magical forest has appeared overnight at the city’s edge, warping reality with vibrant trees, shifting paths, and strange creatures. Tasked with investigating, you and your party will find that the forest defies ordinary rules. You must confront its puzzles, trials, and encounters that test creativity, patience, and teamwork rather than just combat skill, and every choice you make shapes how the forest responds and what secrets it reveals. This short 6 to 8 session adventure is perfect for D&D players trying Daggerheart for the first time. You’ll start at level 1 and finish at level 2, experiencing both roleplay and combat while exploring whimsical, Feywild-inspired magic. Strange occurrences, playful transformations, and unusual creatures will keep you and your party engaged and wondering what’s real; and what is the forest’s enchantment. At moments where the Feywild touches the material plane, magic becomes alive and emotions heightened, creating unexpected, delightful experiences. Danger is rare; discovery, creativity, and teamwork take center stage. What to expect: 🔷 Linear, episodic sessions. Game Time: GMT 10 or 11 pm Tuesday or Wednesday Hail to those who still have adventure in their hearts! I, a humble GM of many systems and faces, am looking to add Daggerheart to my arsenal of games. Outside of the land of fantasy, I do a lot of work in my local TTRPG communities, and the fresh breeze of Daggerheart has slowly made its way to my country. With more and more people wanting to get into it, I decided to run a small campaign (or perhaps longer if the group clicks) in order to see how it plays.

Hello! I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for about 6 years, primarily 5e and SWRPG FFG. I’m looking to get into systems like Pathfinder 2e, Starfinder 2e, Draw Steel, Mutants & Masterminds, and Daggerheart. Lean towards fantasy, sci-fi, sci-fantasy, and superhero games, but I’m open to trying other settings. I tend to enjoy balanced games where combat is present, but roleplay, story, and character choices are just as prevelant. Character-driven campaigns, heroic adventuring, mysteries, investigations, political intrigue, and even kingdom-building all sound interesting to me. Character-wise, I tend to gravitate toward sword-and-sorcery types, shapeshifters, summoners, and pet/companion classes that are sarcastic, conflicted, or strong and stoic. I’m available Saturdays, any time, US Central timezone. I’m hoping to find a group that enjoys collaborative storytelling, is LGBT-friendly, and takes the game seriously enough for the story to mean something to everyone without losing the ability to joke and have fun. Speaking of, I'm not into joke campaigns, adversarial GM-vs-player games, or games with heavy sexual content/themes. Some of my favorite inspirations include Star Wars, Eragon, The Lord of the Rings, and The Expanse.

Frau_Elster
Hi there! I'm Frau Elster, 33, located in Hanover, Germany.  I have been playing TTRPGs for roughly a year now. It became quite an hyperfixation and thanks to a local open club I've gotten the chance to test some systems and get an idea of what I enjoy in this game. Ideally, of course, the group vibes and gets along. That's a wish of mine but of course can't be forced. I tend to enjoy smaller groups up to 4, sometimes 5, on a bi-weekly schedule in the evening. I love creating complex characters with a few defining moments already having happened to them to help flesh them out. It didn't happen yet but I'd love to experience what it's like to have a ongoing campaign that weaves in the characters' backgrounds. Usually I have a concept in mind before I create a character and then read through _a lot_ of materials and sources to find the build and world-related backgrounds that fit. For example: I am in the midst of creating a tabaxi stardruid whose base idea was that she looks like a black jaguar and has the constellations map right there in the spots of her fur. Or I knew I wanted a gnome raised by ice giants who draws her magic from the aurora and can hit really hard and now I have several tabs open haha I enjoy good atmospheric horror and am actually thinking about hosting The Magnus Archive TTRPG. But that's a project for the future.  Coming from a theatre background I love roleplay and the chaotic rule of cool being applied more than dungeon crawling, rule crunching and min/max-ing. Social encounters and exploration are big to me. Do you know that one friend who needs to check every question mark in a video game? Yeah that's me (and is also a reason why I love Breath of the Wild. Exploring was very much rewarded in this game.) As a GM I love putting in puzzles but that is always a hit or miss with me as a player. In general I would say I am a bit of a chaotic player who enjoys discussing and brainstorming with the others.

Sapphire
Hello, I'm Sapphire. I'm a Brazilian illustrator, and TTRPGs are my favorite hobby. I've been looking for chances to play more recently, specially Daggerheart, my favorite system. As a player I love roleplay, while I enjoy combat and exploration a lot too, I believe the best moments of any campaign usually happen during those moments where the players are just roleplaying to the best of their abilities at each other or towards whichever important NPC they're talking to. I enjoy playing spellcasters, and my characters tend to be either: people with a lot to prove with a mission to accomplish (even if some times they don't even know that themselves), or weird characters whose origins seem to have been leading them towards a happy life, but something caused a huge shift, messing with their life and causing them to have to deal with something else, complex and unatural, which they have to learn to deal with or cure. About myself, besides TTRPGs I love animated shows and movies, books, music, and video games. I enjoy watching video game streamers, and some of my favorite games are: the Dragon Age franchise, Baldur's Gate 3, and Pokemon. I also really like reading about mythology, specially Greek and Roman.
