Saga20

Saga20

Dungeons & Dragons
Worldbuilding
Saga20 is the campaign tool that keeps up with your table. It is a full world builder, a campaign wiki, a session summarizer, a character sheet system and a shared player portal, and all of it runs off one action: hit record. Play the session, upload the audio, and Saga20 works out who spoke, writes the recap, and pushes what happened into every world page it touched. Characters, locations, factions and items each keep their own page, their own timeline, and a link back to the session where it happened. Most world builders need you to update them. This one updates itself. It works for every TTRPG system, from D&D across all editions to Pathfinder 1e and 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk RED and Vampire: The Masquerade, with character sheets built into the app. The app is quickly growing in popularity and is already being used and trusted by thousands of GMs. Description Every campaign wiki dies the same death. Immaculate for four sessions, then the group plays a long night, nobody writes it up, and a month later the wiki describes a campaign that no longer exists. Saga20 fixes that at the source. The session is the input, and the world updates because you played, not because you did homework afterwards. Underneath the automation is a proper world builder. Characters, NPCs, locations, factions, items, deities, starships, corporations, clues, house rules: anything in the campaign gets a real page, with rich text, images, custom icons and cover art, organized into folders and templates and custom entity types for whatever the world needs. Search reaches every page instantly. A campaign graph draws who knows whom. Interactive maps carry routes, regions, pins and the party's current position. Build it all by hand if that is the fun part, or you can import an existing world across from Obsidian, Notion, Google Docs or World Anvil and carry on from there. You can then upload session recordings to automatically update your world wiki. Anyone at the table can record, on a phone, a dedicated mic, Discord or Zoom, and nobody else has to install anything. Saga20 generates the Session Notes including choices, clues, quests and consequences that happened during the session then automatically updates the world pages so you'll always have an up to date wiki without having to spend hours after every session.  It is not only the GM's tool but a tool for the entire table. Players can read the campaign and session notes without an account, or choose to claim their own characters, keep their character sheets on the same page as the story, and arrive at the next session actually remembering the last one. The wiki can be themed to match the setting and published on its own link. Prep, play, notes and the whole table, in one place.

D&D Beyond

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for Dungeons & Dragons, originally launched in 2017 and acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. It serves as the primary ecosystem for the 5th Edition ruleset and the updated 2024 "5.5e" core rules. In 2026, the platform is undergoing a massive "Game Platform" rebuild, moving away from its original hard-coded architecture to a data-driven engine. This allows the platform to support more complex customization and the new "Season" based content release model introduced this year. Description D&D Beyond is the definitive "companion app" for D&D. It combines a high-speed character builder, a digital library of all official sourcebooks, and a native 2D virtual tabletop called Maps. The platform is designed to be the easiest way to play the game, handling all calculations, spell slots, and inventory management automatically. With the 2026 "Season of Horror" and "Season of Magic" updates, it has become a living platform that delivers monthly content drops and themed community events directly to player character sheets. System Overview & Key Features The 2026 Game Engine Rebuild Wizards of the Coast is currently rebuilding the backend of D&D Beyond from the ground up. This move allows the site to finally support highly requested features like custom classes, complex homebrew non-magical equipment, and more responsive rules validation that doesn't rely on legacy code from 2017. The Maps VTT The integrated 2D virtual tabletop is now free for all users to host games as of late 2025. It features "Quickplay Maps" for all official adventures, allowing GMs to launch a session with pre-placed tokens and fog of war. New "Reveals" functionality lets GMs share high-resolution gallery art and monster lore directly to players' screens during play. New "Quickbuilder" Flow To improve onboarding, the 2026 character builder features an "art-forward" Quickbuilder mode. It guides players through the most impactful decisions—like subclass and background—while using optimized defaults for smaller details, allowing a new hero to be ready for play in under five minutes. Content Sharing (Master Tier) The Master Tier subscription remains the most popular for groups. It allows a single user to share their entire digital library—including the new 2026 Ravenloft: The Horror Within and Arcana Unleashed books—with up to 12 players across five different campaigns. Legacy vs Core Toggles Following community feedback, the platform now features robust toggles to enable or disable "Legacy" (2014) content. This ensures that groups can choose to stick strictly to the 2024 rules or mix in older subclasses and spells without the interface becoming cluttered or confusing. Digital/Physical Integration Most new 2026 book releases now feature a "Physical + Digital" bundle. When you buy a hardcover from the official store, you receive an instant unlock code for D&D Beyond, ensuring your character builder and digital library are updated before the physical book even arrives in the mail. Lumen VTT

Lumen VTT

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
One D&D session, three connected screens. Lumen VTT gives game masters and players a shared place to run maps, music, combat, dice, character actions, and table-facing moments without turning the session into admin work. What Lumen VTT is for Lumen is designed for D&D 5e groups that want the structure of a modern VTT while keeping play moving. It focuses on combat flow, animated tabletop feedback, live session tools, music, and fast GM setup. A VTT for active tables The app supports a GM view, player views, and a live table display, so a group can play online or around a real table with a TV. Players can use phones while the GM manages the encounter. Automation where it helps Combat features are built around common 5e tasks such as attack rolls, saves, damage, healing, conditions, initiative, movement, and area effects. The goal is to reduce bookkeeping while keeping decisions visible. What to compare in any virtual tabletop When comparing VTT software, look at how quickly a session starts, how much rules work is automated, whether players need heavy setup, how the map feels during combat, and whether the tool supports your actual table format. Inkroll
Tools & Platforms

Inkroll

TTRPG
English
Inkroll is a web platform for playing tabletop RPGs play-by-post: asynchronously, in written posts, on each player's own schedule, with a human gamemaster running the table. It sits between heavyweight real-time VTTs and plain forum software; the writing stays the point, but the platform actually understands characters, dice, secrets, and the GM's role instead of leaving them on the side. It is also, deliberately, a beautiful place to spend a campaign. Inkroll was built by play-by-post players who wanted the game to read as well as it plays: a calm, candlelit page of ink and parchment where posts get the space of a book, quoted speech and images are cleanly styled, and every table can choose the look and post layout that suit its story. The tools stay out of the way until the moment a hand reaches for them, so a session feels like reading and writing a novel with friends, not operating software. Dice are typed straight into a post, like {Perception:1d20+2}, rolled once on the server the moment the post is published, then frozen, with a per-post audit the whole table can see, so a result can never be edited or quietly re-rolled. Players post as their characters, with portraits, versioned character sheets, and quick stat updates (hit points, spell slots, conditions) committed together with the post. GMs get sealed passages delivered to exactly the players they choose, chapters, scene notes with a world map and a per-chapter battle map, and live updates with typing indicators and read markers, so an asynchronous table still feels alive. Long campaigns are first-class citizens: the Chronicle keeps a running recap of every chapter and every character met, and answers questions from the campaign's own posts, so a returning player or a newcomer catches up in minutes. And because a campaign written like a book deserves to become one, a finished game can be exported as a designed, print-ready PDF or EPUB. Games already in progress can be imported from Myth-Weavers or Discord with posts, characters, images, and dice results intact. Ready-made sheets cover D&D Fifth Edition, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Cortex Prime, and Grimwild, plus a system-agnostic option and a builder for custom rulesets with their own dice mechanics. New systems are also gladly added upon request.

RollCamp
Tools & Platforms

RollCamp

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
RollCamp is a VTT that only supports D&D 2024, and it's staying that way. No system-agnostic engine, no expansion roadmap to other games, no plugin marketplace. One ruleset, built in properly. Campaigns Each campaign has its own page the DM can customize with a name, description and background image. There's an archive for images, soundtracks and notes, and the DM decides what gets shared: everything to the party, or specific resources to specific players only. Notes are always private to whoever wrote them, DM included. You can create characters, NPCs and monsters, homebrew or from the book. /images/general-media/1785692364_6WIioI3C.webpCampaign page Character sheets Sheets are dynamic. You go through the creation wizard, and (almost) every choice you make propagates: AC, HP, saves, proficiencies, weapon masteries, spell slots, spell save DC. Change your armor, pick a different feat, choose a fighting style, and the numbers follow. You're not typing your own AC into a box and hoping you did the math right. There's a full creation wizard and a guided level-up wizard, so leveling is "click level up, answer the questions it asks you" instead of "open the PHB, find your class table, remember what you're supposed to get at 5th level." Maps There's a built-in map editor. You import your own battlemap (up to 8K resolution), set the grid, place tokens, done. You can attach character and monster sheets to tokens. /images/general-media/1785692445_bZb4aSu1.webpMap creator page The Table Itself Almost everything in the session exists to keep the game from stopping. Dice are 3D and animated so a roll is a shared moment rather than a number in a log. Webcams are built in over P2P so nobody has to juggle a second app. Initiative lives in a tracker the DM controls, so the turn order isn't something one person is holding in his head. The compendium is available in session as well as out of it, which kills the classic five-minute pause where someone goes looking up a spell. Same idea behind the chat, and because the sheets are interactive you can drop a spell or a feature into it as a link with the full text attached. Nobody has to describe from memory what the ability does. Links rollcamp.com - Official website discord.gg - Discord server r/RollCamp - Subreddit page

Rollcall Tavern
Tools & Platforms

Rollcall Tavern

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
RollCall Tavern is a browser based toolset for running table top RPG's. The intent was to put everything a session needs in one place, For the DM it provides a single workbench for the campaign. The DM can take Notes, create NPCs, and generate battle and more. A story map helps organize and branch your thoughts visually. While, battle maps calculate line of sight, so walls block vision and each player sees only what their character can see. Built in combat tracker helps you run and calculate enemy damage. Rollcall Tavern also allows you to push images to the players, anytime so you can share more than just battle maps. Run your campaign the way you want it to be run. For players the experience runs on any browser. They see the current map and any material the DM pushes to them, and on their turn they attack, cast, move and end their turn from a single action bar. Player sheets and inventory tracking also help players stay organized and ready to go. Everything runs in a browser. There is nothing to install, and a session works the same way whether the group is gathered around one table or playing remotely. RollCall Tavern is free to use. The only paid component is optional AI art and text generation, which is disabled by default and can be ignored entirely. A full campaign can be run without it. All campaign data exports as JSON and accounts can be deleted at any time.
