"Year 0" Prequel One-Shots (3-4 players/session)

Adult Player Wanted for Light Hearted, One Shot–Focused TTRPG Group We’re looking to add adult players to our long running, relaxed gaming group! Experience is absolutely not required—just bring curiosity, a willingness to join in, and a sense of humor. What We Play We play a wide range of systems and genres—classic fantasy quests, chaotic goblin nonsense, supernatural westerns, sci fi mysteries, and plenty more.   Our group leans toward short adventures and one shots rather than long campaigns. It keeps things fresh, lets everyone try new characters and playstyles, and avoids long term commitment burnout.   We do play D&D 5.5e the most, but we love trying new systems. Our Vibe We keep things light, fun, and low pressure. No rules lawyering, no perfectionism—just a bunch of adults hanging out and having a good time. • Mechanics stay simple and easy to grasp (rules are a guide) • Bold risks and silly ideas are encouraged (let’s see how we can make that happen) • Romance fades to black • Gore stays reasonable (…though someone did carry around a decapitated head once) • We respect everyone’s triggers (one player is terrified of spiders) Inclusivity Matters We are proudly LGBTQIA+ friendly and want players who feel the same. We do not tolerate homophobia, transphobia, racism, or sexism. We also avoid political debates—this is a space to relax, not stress. Welcome to Glemmerrúm, a free in-person, kid-friendly beginner D&D campaign in NE DC on Sunday afternoons. We are looking for some beginner players to explore the Glemmerrúm, a collaborative, home-brew D&D 5.5e campaign, designed for kids (9+) and adults to play together. Characters will start at Level 3 and progress throughout the campaign. Anyone under 18 who wants to join will need an adult playing/present with them. The game is in-person and will take place every Sunday afternoon in NE DC, from September to December. Once we have six players confirmed, we’ll set up a Session Zero next week, before the first session Sunday, September 13th. Hello hello! I am Matthew. I am a new DM building a homebrew world, and I want your help filling in its history. Before my main campaign begins, I am running a series of one-shots set in "Year 0". This is when an apocalyptic cataclysm nearly ends the world. The future campaign will be set centuries afterward. This post is for a specific prequel one-shot for a party of four bards. AND you as the player ideally have an instrument to RP with and maybe play poorly. When? I run my business from home and have a family, so M-F during the day works best. These one-shots will take place Tuesday through Thursday, between 9:00am and 2:00pm Central time (chicago area). If you work from home, work nights, or live in a time zone where this is your evening, this table is for you! What is it? You will play level 6 bards surviving the chaos of a larger conflict. You may be "just" bards, but together you can make a real difference in this harried, crumbling world. All of this happens under the shadow of the First King, whose mysterious sacrifice during this era saves the realm but curses his bloodline forever. Legacy? Yup If you survive, I have a "Fortune & Fate" roll planned to help determine your character's epilogue. Though you will have plenty of creative control over their outcomes. My particular hope with this one-shot is to establish a few bards as local heroes of sorts. And in the epilogue and leading into the future campaign, these bards and their instruments will be cherished.
